Terms of Engagement

This page describes general working principles. It is not a contract. All project work is governed by a signed engagement letter or statement of work agreed per engagement.

Scope and pricing

Fixed-scope engagements carry a defined deliverable and fixed price, confirmed in writing before work begins. A deposit is required to reserve capacity. Hourly engagements are invoiced fortnightly at an agreed rate.

Payment

Invoices are payable in USD or EUR via Wise. Payment terms are specified in the engagement letter. Late payment may result in work pausing until the account is cleared.

Confidentiality

All client work is treated as confidential by default. A formal NDA is available on request and can be signed before any scoping conversation if preferred.

Intellectual property

Delivered code and artefacts become the client's property upon final payment, unless otherwise specified in the engagement letter. Open-source dependencies remain under their respective licences.

Cancellation and refunds

Deposits are non-refundable once work has begun. For fixed-scope engagements cancelled before deliverables ship, a pro-rata refund of the remaining balance is issued based on work completed to date.

General principles

Good faith, written records, no surprises. Scope changes are discussed openly and documented before additional work proceeds. I aim to communicate clearly and promptly throughout every engagement.
